Hurricane Harvey having moved on, clean-up begins and businesses are starting to assess damage and in some cases reopen. Several live music venues have already resumed hosting shows, while others have cancelled events scheduled through this weekend. Here's a round-up of the venues we've heard from thus far.
Anderson Fair: The venue postponed its Aug. 25 Tish Hinojosa show, which had been scheduled in the middle of its summer hiatus. That show has been moved to Sept. 8, then summer break resumes until Sept. 22, when Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Mains drop in.
Arena Theatre: No word yet from the venue. Its next scheduled show is Julieta Venegas on Sept. 1.
Continental Club: The Midtown club stayed dry during Harvey. It will host Houston legend Archie Bell for a free album release show on Sept. 2, asking people to bring donations for the Houston Food Bank. The Continental's calendar appears to have no postponements or cancellations.
Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion: The Pavilion's president and CEO Jerry MacDonald said it "had no physical damage . . . and is in good shape. Our current focus is on our staff, fans and community whose homes are experiencing devastating flood waters." Jeff and Larry's Backyard BBQ featuring Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy scheduled for Sept. 2 has been cancelled. The venue's next scheduled shows are the Houston Symphony playing the music of John Williams on Sept. 6 and the Goo Goo Dolls on Sept. 7.
Dan Electro's Guitar Bar: Reopened Tuesday. Its next scheduled concert is Paa Kow, a drummer and composer from Ghana. He plays Sept. 15.
Discovery Green: The downtown park is listed as "closed until further notice." Its next concert series is scheduled to begin Sept. 7 with a performance by Charlie Robison.
Dosey Doe: The Woodlands venue postponed Marc Broussard to Sept. 17. Louisiana blues guitar great Tab Benoit is scheduled to play Aug. 31.
The Grand 1894 Opera House: The historic Galveston venue has cancelled its Galveston Symphony Orchestra Pops Concert scheduled for Sept. 3. No word yet about further cancellations. Ronnie Milsap's Farewell Tour is scheduled for the venue Sept. 16-17.
Heights Theater: Singer-songwriter Colin Hay is the next scheduled show, Sept. 8.
House of Blues: The downtown club will be closed through Friday. Currently plans are to reopen Saturday, when blues great Buddy Guy plays.
McGonigel's Mucky Duck: The little listening room has taken on water in other storms, but this time it appears to have dodged flood waters. The Duck was open for business on Tuesday. Singer-songwriter Bruce Robison performs Aug. 31.
Miller Outdoor Theatre: The free Hermann Park theater has postponed all three of its weekend shows: The Hillbenders Present The Who's Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry on Sept. 1; Bach and Piazzolla Sept. 2; and Bollywood Blast on Sept. 3.
Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe: The Galveston songwriter's haven canceled its Sept. 1 Brandon Rhyder show with plans to reschedule. Owner Rex Bell hasn't gotten inside the venue yet, but wrote, he "can see from our alarm cameras that there is some water in the club. It doesn't look like a lot of water, so we are relieved about that." Further scheduling information to come.
Revention Music Center: The downtown venue has no shows scheduled until Sept. 12, when Modest Mouse comes to town.
Smart Financial Centre: The Mary J. Blige show set for Aug. 25 has moved to Sept. 19. The next scheduled performance is Shreya Ghoshal on Sept. 1.
Toyota Center: The Aug. 31 Emmanuel & Mijares concert has been postponed; information about rescheduling and refunds to come. The next scheduled shows are Nicky Jam & Plan B on Sept. 8 and Janet Jackson on Sept. 9.
Warehouse Live: The offices of the venue took on some water, not for the first time, but the venue weathered the storm with minimal damage. As for shows: the Playlist moves from Aug. 31 to Sept. 27; Kash Doll's Sept. 1 show will move to a date to be determined; Cupcake Live moves from Sept. 1 to Sept. 10; Deja Vu on Sept. 1 has been postponed to a date TBD; the Sept. 2 Soundbox Studios show is cancelled; the Sept. 2 Lifestyle Industry Showcase show moves to Nov. 26. The venue's regular schedule resumes Sept. 7.
White Oak Music Hall: As of Wednesday morning, only the Aug. 31 Sylvan Esso show had been cancelled.
Wortham Theater Center: Both the Brown Theater and Cullen Theater took on some water, and suffered some damage. Houston Grand Opera's season doesn't begin there until Oct. 20, when "La Traviata" opens. Da Camera's jazz series begins Sept. 23 with From Harlem to Havana by the Harlem Quartet. Updates to come.
